Name of Thread: Morrow House Characters Involved in Thread: Kate and Gemma IC Month Thread Occured: July Brief Description of Thread: Kate and Gemma have a heart to heart talk.
It had been a long trip home but an even longer trip away from home. Gemma had missed her family terribly. The whole time she was gone she had thought about them often. He and Wendy really didn't have a great relationship and in Gemma's heart she knew Wendy was just a replacement for Tara. She knew that it was the best decision she had made in having them split though anymore she was getting to the point to where she wasn't so sure.
Coming around the curve of her street she sighed. She was close to being home. Taking out a smoke she looked up to see a bike in her drive way. It was Kate's that much she knew. She wondered if something bad had happened with Jury. the only thing she knew was there was a bike in her drive way. The only way to find out was to go in and face the music.
Parking her caddy in the drive way she opened the door and headed towards the door. Taking a moment she exhaled and headed in her home. "Clay? Anyone home?" She sat her bag on the table along with her keys. Heading down the hallway she stopped in her bedroom. There was something off and she knew it.
The smell wasn't the same. It normally smelled of her and Clay but it smelled of Clay and someone else. The bed was unmade which wasn't much of a surprise. Clay wasn't much of a house keeper. Hell the man barely knew how to do his own laundry. Sighing she went to making the bed only to come across a pair of panties that weren't hers. She grew angry but for now would contain it. She would confront Clay when the time was right. Placing the pair of laced panties on the dresser she continued to make the bed.
Once finished she headed to the kitchen to grab a drink, maybe make some dinner. Maybe eating would help her feel more at home instead of violated. She was hurt but that wasn't how she wanted to feel when she had just got home. Sitting at the kitchen table she had opted for just the drink. She was sure that Kate was here some where. She would wait till she found her.
Answers were needed and questions were probably heading her way. She had an inkling in her gut that Kate would need her. She hadn't seen Kate in years, not since she was a little girl. She was like a daughter to her and she would be there for her no matter what but it did worry her on what Jury was up to and why Kate was suddenly staying at her house. She didn't mind it and she knew that Clay wouldn't let her stay here unless he had good reason to. Only the soon conversation would tell, other than that it was growing incredibly hot inside the damn house.

Kate had been asleep on her first real bed since she’d come to Charming. When she woke up at the sound of Gemma’s voice, she noted she had been on her back, slack jawed and probably snoring. She’d just laid down for a little nap, and had clearly passed out, fully clothed. Despite that, she felt revived and was reluctant to get up, because the mattress was soft and extremely comfortable.
She sorted herself out and shuffled out into the hallway of the Morrow house. She spotted Gemma in the kitchen, so she took a seat on one of the bar stools across the way from her. “Hey Gemma,” she greeted, sounding more tired than she had expected. “Clay said I could crash here,” she added after a moment, wanting to explain herself, even if she was like family with Clay and Gemma. She rested her chin in her palms, with her elbows resting in turn on the bar top. She looked at Gemma for a moment, not really taking anything in. She was unaware of what Gemma had found, or how she was feeling.
If she had, she would have left already to go give Clay a piece of her mind. She didn’t like Daytona as it was, but if she had known the two of them had been up to it in his own house, she would have been livid.

Kate had startled her a bit as she heard her voice coming around the corner. Deep in her thoughts she had forgotten that Kate was there. She didn't want to ruin the good mood as turned to look at her. She was growing up fast. Gemma could remember when Kate was a little girl and now before her eyes she was a grown woman.
She listened as the girl explained herself, for some odd reason even through she didn't have to she still did. She put the coffee back into place as she turned to look at Kate with those soft brown eyes. "How you doing, baby? Everything going ok?"
She was concerned for the girl and wouldn't drill her too much only for the simple fact that she would tell her in due time. She could always count on Kate for that. John and Jury served in Nam together and grew a friendship. That was the only reason she knew because of that friendship.
She had watched Kate grow from a little tyke who would hang around her dad and the Devil's to learn the ropes. She poured a cup for Kate and put the sugar and cream in front of Kate if she even wanted it. She watched as Clay Jr. made his way towards Kate and pecked affectionately on her arm.

Kate gave Jr. a scratch under his beak and watched as he fluffed out his feathers so she could get in and scratch his skin. Kate had never had a pet, not even when she was growing up. She had always loved Gemma’s Galah, and she had noted over the years, that the bird remembered who she was. It was kind of nice really. “I’m okay,” she replied as Gemma addressed her. Jr. climbed up her arm and onto her shoulder to play with her earrings while Kate sipped at her coffee.
“Dad’s having Mayan issues, Redwood is helping him out. I’ve been put on lockdown.” Kate had gotten over the bitterness of being told to stay put. She knew it was the smart thing to do, and she knew that if anything ever happened to her at the hands of the Mayans, there’d be a lot of men who’d never forgive themselves, and she didn’t want to cause pain like that just because she was stubborn. She knew Jess was okay, and so her need to flee had subsided.
“My sister had one of her moments and decided to kick me out, and Clay didn’t want me crashing at the clubhouse, so he directed me here.” Jr. pulled Kate’s stud in her ear clean out, and she reached up and let him deposit it in her hand. She was used to this, it was always the first thing he did when he climbed up on her. He went to go for the other side, but Kate beat him to it and removed the other earring. She’d fish around on the floor for the back of the one he’d removed later.

"Well Clay was smart in that move. The boys would be crawling all over you and me personally, don't want that. You aren't a sweet butt and the prospects have been getting a little grabby lately."
She watched as Jr. climbed on Kate's shoulder removing her earring. He had a habit of doing that thanks to Clay. The man had taught him some gross things which made Gemma unhappy about it but there was nothing she could do about it. "Sweet butt, sweet butt," Jr. agreed. shaking her head she had listened to Kate spill all the news that she needed. There were some added details in which Clay had left out which didn't surprise her at all.
"Sister still up to no good, huh? Figures." She poured herself another cup as she lit another cigarette letting the nicotine fill her lungs before she blew out. She wondered how long it had been since Kate had an actual bed to sleep on. The girl look rested but at the same time she looked as though she hadn't slept well in days.
"How you holdin' up through all of this, darlin'?"
It was an honest question. Gemma was concerned with the details on what was going between the Mayans and Jury she was more concerned on how this was affecting Kate. She knew the boys would handle it but she also knew how much of a free spirit Kate was. To tell her to stay put was like telling the Pillsbury dough boy he couldn't eat muffins. She knew at first Kate would be itching to get out but would slowly get around to seeing it from Clay's point of view.
To her kids, Jury was like and Uncle to them and she would hope that he would return the same kindness and respect for her kids as she was his daughter. Kate was one of a kind and Gemma knew that but it would only be a matter of time before she would get restless just sitting here.

Kate chuckled when Gemma mentioned the prospects and being grabby. “Prospects are scared of me… I think Tig has been telling stories about me,” she said with a laugh. She pictured something along the lines of ‘Touch her and die’, but much more colourful. Kate smirked at the idea, Tig had such a wonderful imagination when it came to things like that. She couldn’t help but laugh, more whole heartedly as Jr. started saying ‘sweetbutt’, bobbing his head up and down.
When Gemma asked how she was holding up, Kate looked up and stared blankly for a moment. She’d never had a heart to heart with Gemma before, and she wasn’t sure she really wanted one. So she just gave a shrug. “I’m fine,” she said, dismissing the whole topic. “The Tribe will clear this shit with the Mayans, things will get better.” She actually sounded convinced of this, especially now that the Sons were helping. But in truth the situation was dire. Tribe numbers were low, and Jury didn’t operate outlaw anymore. The Mayans were a huge threat, and Kate wasn’t sure that the SoA retaliation wouldn’t just make things worse.
“How was your trip?” she asked, changing the subject. She wasn’t sure where she had been, but it made for conversation.

Kate wasn't one to have a heart to heart with her which was alright she figured as much to just stay clear of that subject. She looked at Jr. and smiled. The bird had been taught some dirty things thanks to her husband. She didn't like the idea of the family bird deciding to take to talking dirty but there wasn't much she could do.
Kate had asked her about her trip and in all honesty she didn't really know what to say because it had been boring. She needed time away and got it but it was too peaceful for her taste. She had been missing her family and most of all her husband. Well she did miss him before all this shit with Day had happened.
"I suppose it was ok other than the fact I missed everyone," sighing she took a sip of her coffee and looked at her, "I'll warn you, there are going to be a few other women in this house. I don't know how the hell Clay is going to handle that one but I thought I would give you a fair heads up only because things are going to get hectic."
Pausing she thought about Jury and the Tribe. He wasn't acting as an outlaw any more and the retaliation on the Mayans could prove to be horrible to Tribe. It worried her. Jury had been in the family for a long time. John had made a good connection with him with them being in Nam together but she still worried.

Kate bit back the groan that threatened to rear its ugly head. Kate knew the women that Gemma was close to, the kind of close that she would let them stay at her house. She felt bile rising in her throat at the thought of it all. Fuck Clay, she wasn’t sure how she was going to handle it, since she’d always been a ‘boys girl’. Too many titties, and Kate lost her mind. She swallowed it all however and gave a nod.
“I’ll probably only be around for a place to crash,” she said honestly, though now she was pretty damned sure of it. “And with that said, I’m gonna head out. Grab a few drinks, waste some of my over abundant time.” She stood up, put Jr. back down on the counter to wander off and smiled at Gemma.
“Good to see you again.”

Gemma nodded. She knew Kate wasn't going to stay long inside the house. She was more of a 'boy' kind of girl but Clay wanted her to stay here to keep her out of trouble. He always watched out for Kate like a daughter and sometimes Gemma didn't wonder if Clay thought of her as a daughter he never had. She watched as Kate made a long speech about going out and using some of that free time she had.
"You be careful out there, yeah?"
Gemma wasn't going to pressure her into anything she didn't want to do and sure as hell wasn't going to make her feel like a prisoner inside her home. She let Kate do as pleased and come and go as she pleased but she would always have that little watchful eye out on her. She smiled back warmly at the girl as she watched her leave the house.
Gemma had a feeling she wouldn't be seeing Kate staying here. She would most likely head back to Las Vegas which was fine with Gemma as long as she kept in touch with her.
