All rules are subject to change. Announcements will be made upon posting of new/revised rules.
- Flaming will not be tolerated in any way. If you have an issue with another member, please take it up with The Revelator. Do not swear at or mistreat guests or members in any way. We are here to have fun, anyone flaming will be punished.
- Please Note: There is a big difference between IC and OOC. Do not take offence to something that is said or done to your character, it is fiction, and not necessarily the opinion of the writer themselves.
- Please also note that OOC swearing is allowed, so long as it is not directed towards another member/guest.
- These rules include our Cbox, as well as the boards themselves.
- All members should contact The Revelator regarding problems with other members. The situation will be assessed from both sides and a fair outcome will be decided. Do not take 'the law' into your own hands. If another member is harrassing you, GMing your character or behaving in an offensive way to you, always contact The Revelator, do not begin arguments or attempt to sway other members to 'your side'.
Please Note: It is easy to read things out of context and put our own tone on the words. The simplest of phrases can be taken in a number of ways, without hearing the voice, we often put the way we're feeling into the tone.
Concerning the rating of this RPG: - Proboards does not permit the posting of content that is considered offensive.
- I have not assigned a 'rating' to this RPG. Posts may contain some mature content, but please keep it to a minimum in order to adhere to Proboards rules. If you wish to RP and include sex, excessive violence, swearing and drug use, you will need to organise your posts to be done through email or some other medium. Contact The Revelator for your options.
- I am aware that Sons of Anarchy has many adult themes in it. But you do not have to RP these to have a good time on an RPG. Our boards are filled with good quality posts that don't touch on any of the hardcore themes that run through SoA. No racism, illegal drugs, underage sex (of any kind), hardcore violence will be tolerated. If you write these things, you run the risk of Revelator being shut down by Proboards.
- If you have any questions regarding what you can and can't post on Revelator please PM me.
- This is an English speaking board. I unfortunately do not speak any other languages. If you are bi/multi lingual and find others like yourself willing to post, I ask that you do so in our Alternate Reality board, all IC posts should be in English to give other members the opportunity to read them and take plot and post ideas from it.
- Script format is not accepted. Please write your posts as you would write a novel, third person, descriptive parragraphs including the thoughts, speech and actions of your character. See below for a quick sample.
Not Acceptable: “INT: Jill wakes to loud noise.
JILL: What the hell was that?”
Acceptable: “Jill woke with a start when a loud boom shook the walls of her room. Her frightened eyes searched the darkness for answers, but she did not find any. “What the hell was that?” she asked herself quietly.” - IC posts are not to have "speech" in a different colour, in italics or bolded. The entire post should be a single font, size and colour. Bolding, underlining and italics may be used for emphasis only.
- There is no need to put images in your IC posts (links to outfits, pets etc are fine).
- Do not change the default alignment, font, colour or size of the text in your IC posts.
- These rules, do not apply to OOC posts. Editing of text, the adding of pictures etc are quite alright when not IC.
- If your post is open, please put ((OPEN)) in the post title. If it is for another member, put ((THEIR NAME)) in the title.
- Do not insert yourself into threads that have already been replied to without the permission of the other players. This is rude, as members often have a plan for their thread. Only reply to an open thread, not one that is designated to another character.
- Open posts are just that, open for anyone to reply. Once someone has replied however, consider it the same as any thread dedicated to a member. If you want to join in, all you have to do is ask.
- There is no word minimum for posts.
- This is an intermediate/advanced RPG. While there is no word count enforced on posts, please make an effort to put the best into your writing. One line posts often offend the person you’re writing them for, as we all put time and effort into our work. This is a site about writing, and net speak will not be tolerated at any point in any board, whether on IC (in character), or OOC (out of character) boards.
- There is a limit of one character per account. When registering that account, you may name it anything you like, but the display name must show the first and last name of your character once it is approved. It will then be given a user colour according to that character.
- Posting IC before your character is approved is not permitted. Character approvals do not take long, please be patient.
- There is no character limit, but please ensure that all your characters stay active. Be sure to make a note of your other characters when filling in subsequent approval forms.
- Signature grapics are not to be giant images or multiple graphics. I use 500px wide graphics in my accounts. I also use a high screen resolution, but others do not. If someone's graphic is causing members boards to widen, or multiple graphics are being used, you will be asked to modify/remove them.
- Avatars may be up to 150px x 200px. 100 x 100 is perfectly acceptable. Smaller avatars are accepted, but the larger 150 x 200 are preferred. More space is always good. Avatars should not stretch the width of the member info section in posts.
- Absolutely no God Modding/Moding. This means that you may not write the actions, thoughts or speech of another member's character. Your character may speculate what another character may be thinking, or what they think the character might do. You must seek member permission in a thread to GM their character. At no time will unathorised GMing be tolerated. See a quick example of GMing in a post below.
Jules punched Alex with all the force he could muster. Alex immediately fell to the ground, blood pouring from his nose. Jules laughed, and Alex quickly lashed out from the ground, grabbing at Jules' ankles. - GMing extends to injuring/killing another member's character without permission. Always ask the member if you want to organise a fight, to sort out what the outcome will be.
- If you run an SoA RPG, do not advertise it in any way on Revelator. We are here to write, not be pulled into 'my RPG is better' wars.
- If you have a SoA information site, fan site, you may link to it in your profile.
- All non SoA related RPGs/sites may be advertised in member profiles.
- As always, do not flood the boards or harrass members by advertising your site/RPG.
