Name of Thread: Doin' 90 in a 35? Me? No Way! Characters Involved in Thread: Liz Gambino - Seth Desmond IC Month Thread Occured: Late June Brief Description of Thread: Seth pulls Liz over and tries to get a date with her, though things don't go as he planned. WearingGetting ready for the day, Liz jumped in the shower to wake up and got dressed. She was the only person in the diner that had the choice whether to wear the uniform or regular clothes. And of course to avoid getting hit on by men old enough to be her Father, she went with her regular clothes. Despite the fact that she would get hit on anyway since she never wore conservable clothes. Leather pants, leather jacket, Harley Davidson tank, boots and sunglasses was what she felt the most comfortable in. And right as she was about to run out the door, she remembered her Mother's cross. Liz ran back to her room and grabbed it, putting it on with a smile on her face. Taking the cross, she kissed it as she left her house. Starting her car, which was a '70 Plymouth Road Runner, Liz took off like a bat out of heck. Not because she thought she was late. She just loves to drive fast. Leaving the windows down, she let the wind whip through her hair to dry it out. That and give it that sexy, wind blown, wild look that she always aimed for. Nodding her head to Love The Way You Lie, she was mouthing the words but would belt out the chorus even though she was kind of off key. Okay a lot! And not realizing how fast she was going, she heard police sirens. "Oh, for fuck's sake.." Liz cursed, pulling over on the side of the road. Since she's got a few tickets before, she kept her hands on the wheel with a pissed off look on her face. Her brown eyes instantly turning black as she glared at the side mirror. Just wanting to see when the cop was coming up. Not because she was going to cheer up. Because she wanted to see the mother f***er that pulled her over!!

Pushing his sunglasses up over his eyes as he stepped out of the car, Seth shook his head before he sighed. Honestly he didn't like working the speed bracket, it wasn't his job and he wanted absolutely no part of it on a good day but he didn't have much of a choice in this matter. Not to mention he normally didn't pull over anyone going as fast as what the car now parked in front of him had been doing. Making his way forward, he kept one hand on his gun just to be safe and the other one reached out so that he could lean against the car.
"You do realize how fast you were going right, and that if I really wanted too I could haul you into the station and maybe have your lisence taken away." Did he plan too, not really she was a pretty girl. Not his normal type but pretty none the less and well he was a sucker for a good looking woman in a nice car, and he didn't think a little harmless flirting was going to cause much harm. It livened up his day at least. "Is there some reason that your going that fast?"
He didn't really care what the reasoning behind it was as he had already made his mind up about what he wanted to do about the whole thing, he he really hated writing tickets. That meant if they fought it he had to go to court and then he ended up wasting his day listening to someone bitch and moan about the things that had gone wrong in there life, no thank you he didn't want an After School special on his hands again.
Leaning against the car more, Seth lifted an eyebrow before he smirked at her just waiting to hear what she was going to say.

When Liz saw the cop get out the police car, she unknowingly bit her lower lip. He was NOT what she expected. And of course, naughty thoughts had to make their way through her dirty mind as he got closer to the car. But, when he spoke, she got mad again. "You do realize how fast you were going right, and that if I really wanted too I could haul you into the station and maybe have your lisence taken away." And somehow, she felt that there were two meanings behind that but, she wasn't going to bring it up. Though she did feel a bit sarcastic today. "Is there some reason that your going that fast?" Taking off her sunglasses, she looked up at him with her black eyes.
"Should I say somethin' cheesy like, I just love feeling the wind in my hair? Or just be serious and say that I just like to drive like a bat outta hell? Take your pick." Liz told him her southern accent coming out, with a smirk on her face being her fiery self. She knew that it would earn her a ticket for sure but, she didn't care. She would pay it and get it over and done with. She hated having things hanging over her head, taunting her to no end.
Keeping her eyes on him, she still carried the smirk on her lips. Just to see what the cop's reaction was going to be. Just to see if he was going to pull out that gun that he kept holding or just give her the ticket and leave her alone. Inwardly, she was hoping that he wouldn't follow her to work since it was going close to lunch time.

"I would rather you be honest with me than I would anything else," Seth replied before he shrugged his shoulders loosening his grip on his gun and putting it away. Stepping back he folded his arms over his chest before he looked down at her and then gave a half hearted smile. "Tell you what, I really don't feel much like writing a ticket right now and I'm sure that you have things you would rather be doing besides paying a fine or sitting in driving school," he offered giving her a once over.
He liked the car she was driving, then again it was nothing compared to the one he had sitting back at the station, but he loved his Camaro. He had lucked into the thing when he was sixteen and been taking care of it ever sense then. His love for the car however was beside the point but he could infact understand her need to sped, just not in a residental neighbor hood.
"Tell you what I'm going to let you off on a verbal warning," Seth began. "Next time you go through a neighborhood don't blow through it, actually use the break and go a decent speed," he said half joking and half serious as he watched her before smirking.

Hearing him say that he wanted her to be honest, Liz smiled at him. "I'm being honest. I just like drivin' fast. But, to keep from gettin' a ticket, I shall use the cursed brake pedal." She said, looking down as if defeated. She was a little hurt because she doesn't like driving slow. Okay, anything under fifty miles per hour was slow to her! She's just like her Mom because she also liked to drive fast. Hell, even if she had no place to go, she would drive around just for a ride. Just to get out of the house for a good while.
Noticing the cop giving her the once over, Liz fought the urge to smirk and just put her sunglasses on the top of her head. Pulling her black hair back a tad, she looked up at him when she heard him speak again. For some unknown reason, she felt her heart beat a bit faster against her ribcage. "Tell you what I'm going to let you off on a verbal warning," Listening to the rest of what he said, she nodded in agreement. "Sounds good to me, officer." Liz told him, smiling up at him. Then a idea popped into her head, seeing that he wasn't not that bad of a guy.
"Hey, if you're feelin' hungry, follow me. I work at the diner not too far from here. All this week we're having a special for men in uniform." She said, inwardly praying that he would agree. It's weird because a little while ago, she didn't want him to follow her. Now, she wants him to. 'Liz Gambino, you are one twisted girl.' She mentally told herself.

"Want somewhere you can really speed and let the window blow through your hair there's a strip of road leading up into the Indian Hills, not a lot of patrol. People race up there sometimes," and Seth Desmond knew this because he had done it a time or two and not just in his younger days, not he had actually been up there the week before enjoying himself and not thinking about the messed up thing that had become his life. Bottomline it was occassionally good to get away and allow one's self to let go and just feel free, something like that line from that movie. Living your life a quarter of a mile at a time, hell if he could remember but it had seemed to make sense to him at the time and still did in a way.
Was he hungry? Even if he wasn't it gave him a chance of scenery and he could always get something to drink rather than sitting in the car and staring at the windsheild and the car's passing by him. When you started to count them than you knew you were in real trouble, it was like counting sheep only if you feel asleep you ended up being called in front of the board and having to listen to some long winded speech about how you needed to know better.
"Yeah alright I haven't had lunch yet and how can I say no to someone that agreed to use the cursed brake petal," he joked before he went back to his car and turned the engine over, waiting for her to lead the way. As he waited Seth had to wonder what he was doing exactly and why he was agreeing to this, hunger, the chance to flirt a bit, maybe it was something else completely who knew. For all he knew he was having an off day and in ten minutes this wasn't going to seem like such a great idea anymore but until that happened he was going to see where it went.

Listening to what he was saying about the road up by the Indian Hills, it sounded pretty fun. Liz smiled with a soft laugh. "Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll see you there when you're not wearin' your badge." She said, having the feeling that he went there before. And as she said that, she winked. She couldn't help but be flirty with him since he was flirting back. Besides he was kind of hot. Her fingers went up to the cross and toyed with it, looking at him up and down. Scanning him. Great body.. Sexy voice.. Yep, he was her type of men. But, of course she didn't know what he was really like so, it was a bit early to see herself being with him.
"Yeah alright I haven't had lunch yet and how can I say no to someone that agreed to use the cursed brake petal," Liz had to lean on the steering wheel to laugh a bit. He was funny too, and she liked a guy that could make her laugh. Out the corner of her eye, she noticed him heading back to the police car and leaned out the window, she was looking back. "Try and keep up!!" She yelled out, as he got in the car and started it. She took off fast but, slowed down a bit. She was doing 50 since it was okay to be five miles over the speeding limit. Just as long as she wasn't going as fast as before.
Looking out the rearview mirror, she turned on the radio and Living on a Prayer was blasting so, she sang along to it. She figured he would probably hear the song and didn't care whether or not he liked it. About ten or twenty minutes later, she pulled into the parking lot of the diner and turned down the radio before killing the car. Getting out her car, revealed her full outfit which earned her some whistles from the men standing outside the door, smoking. "Down boys." Liz told them, glaring and they went back to what they were doing. Leaning against her car, she waiting for the cop.

He had been following right behind her the entire time though at one point once he had figured out where they were going, he had thought about passing her just because he could but for some reason Seth managed to be a good boy. Now getting out of his cruiser he tossed his sun glasses down onto the dashboard and closed the door behind himself before he looked around and then looked back at Liz. It hadn't taken much for him to notice the group of men seemed to be a bit put off by his appearance and there for went inside rather than hanging around and staring.
"First the speeding and then the radio," he joked. "Your just glad I really hate writing tickets or else we would have to go through the whole thing all over again," he added as he looked her over now that she wasn't standing behind the wheel. Now one had to understand with the woman in his past they all had one thing in common, they were tall, they were leggy, and most importantly they were blonde. The woman in front of him was none of the three and yet he found himself being a little more interested in her than what he probably should have been, but he liked the fact she had this air about herself that she just wouldn't take shit off of anyone.
Folding his arms over his chest he cast a grin in her direction before he thought about it for a few moments and then his lips slowly turned into a smirk. "Now then what about this lunch you promised me, I mean I did think about it the entire time I was trying to keep up with you back there and I have to admit it was a very promising offer," he said as he looked toward the diner. It seemed like one of those places that people came in and out of and had for years but it was never going to be one of those top of the line chain places, reminded him of the place he use to go eat with his parents ever Sunday afternoon when he was a kid.
"Thinking about it now I didn't get your name earlier," Seth began before he offered her his hand. "Seth Desmond."

Watching the cop get out of his cruiser, Liz just felt a slight burning sensation between her legs. He took off his glasses and she saw his blue eyes. Fighting the urge to gulp, she smiled softly at him when he got closer. Before she could say anything though, he mentioned the speeding and the radio. Rolling her black eyes, she shook her head. "You can't deny an old girl her pleasures." She said, speaking in a posh British voice as she shifted her weight onto her right leg, with her hip to the side. Her body was fit and curvy in the right spots. She was what a real woman should look like, not a pin thin girl pretending to be a woman. And Liz could tell that he enjoyed that about her because she noticed him ogling at her up and down.
"Now then what about this lunch you promised me, I mean I did think about it the entire time I was trying to keep up with you back there and I have to admit it was a very promising offer," "Well, I haven't seen many cops in the diner so, I figured that the word didn't get around and offered." Liz said, lying through her teeth since she didn't want to say that she wanted to get to know him. Despite the fact that she didn't like cops that much, he would be an expectation. Then, hearing him say his name was Seth Desmond, she smiled taking his hand that he had out. "Elizabeth Gambino but, everyone calls me Liz."

He had to laugh because if he didn't know better, which he did, he would have thought that she was flirting with him and while she wasn't his normal tall leggy blonde type there was something about her that was enough to hold his interest. At the same time though he thought there was something more to it, and edge or an air about her that lead him to thin there was more to her than just being a speed demon waitress in a diner. Now that left Seth with the puzzling dilema of did he want to take the time to find out what that might be and risk ending up finding himself actually liking someone, did he really know much at all about being that guy? For as long as he had remembered he had been the type to do what he wanted, get what he wanted, and then move along to the next pretty face in the crowd before things got out of hand. Even his marriages he had known weren't going to last.
"Well I'll be sure to tell the guys back at the station about this place then, though I can't say most of them would be willing to drive out here. You know old and lazy, all that jazz," he joked before he smiled at her. A real smile too not the one he normally gave when he was trying to get under a woman's skin, but he got the feeling playing games with Liz wouldn't get him very far if he decided that was where he wanted to go either, which of course meant he had to shift gears and step out of his comfort zone. Smiling at her again he moved over to the door before he held it open motioning for her to enter.
"Ladies first." Yup this might very well kill him and he wasn't sure if it was worth it or not, but he was deffinately going to find out in the end.

Liz heard what he said about the cops at the station and that he would tell that but, that he wasn't sure if they would take the ride. Being old and lazy. "Wow, it's hard to believe that we trust those old and lazy bastardi to protect us, huh?" She said, sarcastically speaking in Italian a bit. It was a curse word and she didn't feel like saying it in English. She's odd, always speaking in different languages. "But, trust me they'll have to take the drive here when you taste how good the food is." Liz told him, with a half smile, shrugging her shoulder slightly.
"Ladies first." And of course, she had to tease him about it a tad. "Why thank you, kind sir." She said, her southern drawl smoothly coming out as she walked into the diner. Looking over her shoulder at him, she ushered to the tables and booths to the left. "I'll be with ya in a second, Seth. Just need to grab some things out the back." She said, before walking away adding a little more extra sway to her hips as she pulled her hair back into a high ponytail. When she got to the back, she grabbed her half apron, a pen and pad and then, clipping on her nametag that had her name written in almost a graffiti way. Like I said before, she is a wild child.
Coming back, Liz looked around to see where Seth had went to sit. There were tables and booths so, he had a good choice of where to sit.

He had chosen one of the booths because it provided him with the chance to stretch his legs out and actually be more comfortable than he might have been otherwise, not to mention he could sit in the back next to the window and not out in the open. Yeah he had a quirk about sitting with his back to a wall, he wouldn't sit out in the open, but when you pissed off as many people as Seth did it paid to be a little cautious. Looking over the menu it dawned on him that he was probably more hungry than he had thought though he wasn't sure what he wanted to chose.
So what was his idea, as soon as she came back to the table he was going to let Liz surprise him, after all she had been the one to invite him out there so she had to know what was good and what he needed to avoid if he didn't want to see it all again. Granted he was just hoping she was the one that came back and not a different waitress because well that would have ruined all of his fun and his good time.

'Ah-ha! You sneaky son of a gun.' Liz told herself in her mind, seeing Seth in the corner in a booth. He was stretched out, relaxing and that made her smile. She loved to see people letting loose and relaxing and for a cop, that's a blessing to receive. Walking over, she pulled out her pen and pad. "What can I get you, sir?" She said, with a flirty type smile, her head tilted to the side. Waiting to hear something, she bit her lower lip her eyes locked on him. Seeing the menu open on the table, she leaned forward and scanned it to see what he would probably like. "If you're in the mode for meatballs, the meatball sub is terrific! I gave the cook my Mama's recipe so, it's a lot better then before I got here." She suggested, since the meatballs were for crap when she first got the job.
And of course, one of the other waitresses seeing Liz get close to the cop had to come over. The other waitress was a bit of a skank and she couldn't stand her. Well, she came up and tried to take Seth away until the fiesty Siciliana stopped her. "Molly, this is my booth and my customer. Leave." Liz told her in a venomous voice, that made the little blonde run off. Hopefully, that didn't scare him too much because it always scared guys off.

"Tell you what why don't you surprise me since I've never been here before and you would know better than I would about what was good and what wasn't," Seth offered before he gave a small shrug of his shoulders watching as the other waitress all but scampered away from the table and back to her own station. The girl might have been blonde but she wasn't his type, so Seth was glad she had left and taken the hint about not lingering. Besides he liked to devote his attention to one woman at a time and the move on to the next one once he was finished, he'd never been able to figure out how men could balance a girl here and a girl there all at the same time.
Folding his arms behind his head he let himself relax a little more than he had before, stopping once to make sure that his car was still in one peice and to check his scanner to make sure that there was nothing going on. Once he had finished that he checked his cell phone, two night before he had made the drive to the Indian Hills and unlike before it hadn't been to annoy his baby sitter and it hadn't been to have a family get together. He was still worried and at this point anything that could distract him from that was well worth it and he had to admit Liz was giving him a welcoming distraction from himself.
"Maybe then you ca sit down and talk a bit, since I doubt anyone would mind as long as they got their food," he offered looking back at the raven haired girl before he grinned at her casting a wink in her direction.

Watching Molly walk away in defeat, Liz couldn't help but let a smirk curve her cherry red lips. The little skank needed to be put in her place and if she wasn't careful, she was going to be put there courtesy of the Sicilian waitress slash underground boxer. Speaking of that, she would pray that Seth wasn't one of the cops that was investigating the Underground fights. Otherwise, that was going to be a bad thing... Then, being pulled out of her own world, she caught what Seth had said before the blonde skank interrupted them. "Tell you what why don't you surprise me since I've never been here before and you would know better than I would about what was good and what wasn't,"
Liz had to let out a soft laugh as she wrote down a few things on her pad. "Well, I hope you don't mind seafood." She told him, as she wrote down for him something from her home state. Shrimp and Oyster Po-Boy and french fries. "And what would the handsome and charming cop want to drink?" She asked him, with a flirty look in her face, her voice being sexy and serious. "Maybe then you can sit down and talk a bit, since I doubt anyone would mind as long as they got their food," And seeing the wink, Liz smiled back.
